American Stewards Welcomes Two New Board Members

Aug 17, 2023 | Liberty Matters, Standing Ground | 0 comments

Within the past month, it has been our privilege and honor to welcome two new Board members to our organization.  The first to come on is Will Cavin from Roswell, NM, and the second is Becky Norton Dunlop from Draper, Virginia.

Will is a lifelong Roswell resident, who graduated from the New Mexico Military Institute in 1985.  In 1989, he received a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Eastern New Mexio University and spent 25 years as a teacher and coach for the Roswell Independent School District.  He also served as a Field Representative for U.S. Congressman Steve Pearce. Will is married to Kim Cavin. They have six children and four grandchildren, with one more on the way.

We first worked with Will over eight years ago when he began his first of two terms on the Chaves County Board of Commissioners.  Will served as chairman his second and final term and was not able to run again because of term limits.  “I was always impressed with how America Stewards aided our county and stood with us against federal overreach.  When asked to serve, I knew my philosophy and theirs were the same – hard work and a ‘can do’ attitude.  I’m looking forward to serving,” stated Cavin.  Will is also running for Roswell City Council.

Becky Norton Dunlop is our latest addition.  Becky is widely known and loved amongst conservatives where she has been a prominent national leader and strategist for many years.  She has the distinct honor of serving in the two Presidential administrations of Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush.

Under Reagan, she was a senior official in the administration from 1981-1989, and served in the White House, at the Justice Department, and the Interior Department.  In 2002, George W. Bush appointed her to a part-time post as chairwoman of the Federal Service Impasses Panel resolving several hundred cases of disputes between federal agencies management and labor unions.

“I have fought for Constitutional principles my entire career.  Joining the board of the American Stewards of Liberty is an honor enabling me to advance this work, focusing on the foundational principle, protection of property rights but encompassing protection of all our God-given rights.  ASL has set a high standard in the on-going struggle to maintain, indeed rescue our constitutional republic.  I am happy to be part of this dedicated and talented team of patriots,” declared Mrs. Dunlop.

Becky has also served as Virginia’s natural resources chief, where she streamlined, decentralized and down-sized state agencies while protecting the environment.  She authored “Clearing the Air” (Alexis de Tocqueville Institute, 2000), chronicling her experiences as a “free-market environmentalist” during those years.

Most recently, Becky was The Heritage Foundation’s Ronald Reagan Distinguished Fellow.  Becky is a graduate of Miami University in Ohio and is married to George S. Dunlop.

“We’ve been blessed with exceptional Directors leading ASL over our 30-year history,” commented Board Chairman, Mike Dail.  “Will and Becky bring a depth of experience and profound love for this country, our land, and our liberty. I’m looking forward to their expertise and help leading American Stewards.”
